.Remembering Michael Jackson. July 7 2009

Pictures from Women in Business today.

New dishes at Shikai Restaurant. My bad.. I've forgotten about this post until I bumped into Datin Mahani last Sunday at the wedding and it came to my mind that I have yet to post my lunch outing at Shikai Restaurant. Anyway, Shikai Restaurant has recently introduced 12 new sushi and maki dishes.

If you're a bit adventurous, then you should try the sushi with duck fillings. This is because Shikai Restaurant is known for its duck. You can also enjoy the delicious varieties of duck menu ranging from Chinese herb roasted duck to new sesame crispy duck (picture below). For now, patrons can enjoy a promotion of 15% until 15th July.

According to Philip Lim, they have changed the concept of their menu into "Uniquely Bamboo" as this relates to his free time composing Chinese calligraphy poems. Shikai home kitchen is also offering an exclusive dine-in promotion, where a single receipt of $40 entitles customers for a discount on their scrumptious home-made cookies for only $3.90, compared to its usual price of $12 or customers can purchase the cookies at a promotion price of $7.50.

With a purchase of $80 and above in a single receipt, customers can enjoy a free box of Shikai Kitchen homemade cookies. Shikai Restaurant is located at Batu Bersurat (not far from Red Canopy).

The sushi with duck fillings inside. Pretty good

The sesame crispy duck. Highly recommended

Paris, MJ's daughter capped off a teary memorial service

"The best father you could ever imagine." This was the defying moment that broke viewers into tears when Paris (pic above), MJ's daughter, said how much she loved him during the end of the extravaganza memorial of Michael Jackson at the Staples Center.

Those who didn't have Astro back at home caught it on CNN Live with Facebook (excellent) which Steph did. I caught the memorial in the luxury of my bed since it was shown from midnight to 4am. Yes, I've yet to sleep and I have the Women in Business event to cover in a few hours' time.

Anyway, back to the memorial.. Thanks CNN for the live telecast of MJ's memorial service. I was also busy "tweeting" and replying my status on FB with my peers online at the same time and all of them were very touched by watching it on TV. I wonder how it would have felt if we were there itself. And for the record, I can say that the whole four session on Twitter belonged to MJ's memorial (and not a single update or alert on H1N1 which I believe will begin in the morning *lol*)

So which is the best moving moment for you?

1) Paris' short but powerful, teary speech
2) Usher touching the coffin
3) Jermaine Jackson's Smile
4) Brooke Shield's speech
5) We are the World/Heal the World performance

For me, it was Jermaine Jackson's Smile as it totally suits the occasion. Heal the World song connected the millions who watched the memorial service. But I believe Paris' short delivery put the icing on the cake for most viewers who broke into tears with intensity (judging from my tweet alerts). Michael, you have brought everyone together and united in the space of four hours. This is how influential the King of Pop is.

We truly have lost the greatest music icon. His music will always be part of my life. Thank you for music.
