Princess Fadzillah wins 1st round match. It wasn't an easy game for HRH Princess Fadzillah Lubabul Bolkiah who partnered with Fadli in mixed doubles in the Yonex Brunei Open. The mixed pair was forced into a rubber set die against Hafizul and Erny. In the end, HRH & Fadli won the final set 21-19 in a thriller game. Their next match will be today at the Indoor Stadium.
Pg Muda Bahar/Twix lost their opening match to the pair of Jasmina/Amalina in straight sets last night while Azeez Jaafar/Imai lost in straight sets to favourites Fadli/Dodi in the third round. The men's double finally saw Team Athirah slowly being eliminated as the tournament progressed. There are perhaps more than 10 pairs that are representhing Team Athirah. Unfortunately some of them were drawn against each other and some lost to others.
Other results: Okouchi/Mei lost in mixed doubles. Peter Chen/Chieng Mei also lost last night.

Hitesh Mehta made a good point. In Brunei, we have the suitable environment to save the endangered wildlife species. How? Our forest definitely. That will be cool to have endangered life species like the orangutans. Mehta spoke in his presentation that Brunei's forest can help protect the orangutans in a long run because the areas where they (50-60%) are kept are not in a protected area such as Kalimantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
Did you know that Brunei has the largest cover in the world (even better than Malaysia and Indonesia)? So this is a great advantage to the Heart of Borneo initiative, as claimed by Metha. He also like the idea of Asean countries to help this initiative to make it a success. Could we see a migration of orangutans to our forest one day? I won't be surprised but it won't be as easy as well.

Hitesh Metha, a guru of ecotourism, also gave some pointers to the Brunei Tourism Board on its Kenali Negara Kitani (KNK) on promoting its domestic tourism. Sheikh Jamaluddin, the CEO of BTB, hosted a press conference for the Asean delegates for some input to promote Brunei as a ecotourism spot. The Ecotourism Guru gave some constructive points by saying that the brochures that BTB has (10 things of KNK must do) is not an eco-conscious brochure and perhaps it's not meant to be.
He suggested that the BTB should create a brochure that only has eco-conscious properties and destinations. By creating this, we could see some sustainability in ecotourism if that's the angle Brunei wants to take.
Anyway, for those who interested to catch up with Hitesh Metha, the Ecotourism Guru, he will be at Aulait Cafe upstairs at 6pm today and he will share some pointers on sustainable development and he's such a great guy too.. Lots of wisdom to share..

Which CC? I ran another Twitter poll few days ago and there have been a favourable response from my followers with regards to the question. The question was simple - Which credit card in relation to the bank? So in the poll, you can HSBC, SCB, Baiduri or BIBD. In the end, there was a clear winner -----> HSBC
According to my Twitter responses, it's because the credit cards are widely accepted around the world while some of the local CCs might have some problems swiping their cards overseas. A few of my friends have experience this situation before and it can be frustrating.
Anyway, based on my Twitter poll, the majority preferred HSBC credit card with 68 votes.. The second highest was joint runner up - BIBD and SCB with 18 votes... Now that's interesting to have an international bank and a local bank having the same number of votes.. Baiduri Bank had only 11 votes for their credit card..
The results doesn't mean that they own these particular CCs from the respective banks but merely their first preference if given the choice. So guys the next "Question of the Day" will be posted on my Twitter soon.. So do follow @ranoadidas on Twitter and thanks guys for the responses.. It has been really fun....
Speaking of HSBC, I attended their media appreciation night last week and it was simply fun.. I even had flour on my face after effortlessly blowing it on a plate for the sake of digging out mentos as part of the HSBC Xtreme games.. Sadly, my team came last 2nd last out of the the 15 groups LOL..
Thanks HSBC for the entertainment and the food.. Enjoy the pictures and sorry KJ, I shall be posting your pic LOL

Blood drive by OGH. Last week, Orchid Garden Hotel Sports and Social Club organised a blood donation drive where 50 staffs including the General Manager of The Orchid Garden Hotel, Shamsul, took part in the blood donation.
Mohd Iswandi Maaruf (Jack), the Director of Operations, told them the reason for the blood donations is that "blood is life" and to donate your blood is very rewarding as it does save human lives. He hopes the blood donation will be a yearly thing. Images by OGH.
